Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 - Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a new hinge made of high-strength steel and ceramic, two 120Hz OLED displays and a 50MP camera priced from $1240
As expected, Xiaomi has announced a next-generation foldable smartphone. The flagship is called Xiaomi MIX Fold 3.
Here's What We Know
The smartphone is equipped with two OLED displays with a frame refresh rate of 120Hz. The main panel has a diagonal of 8.03" and a resolution of 1916 x 2160 pixels, while the secondary panel is 6.56" and 1080 x 2520 pixels respectively.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 features an updated hinge. It is made of high-strength steel and ceramic. The hinge consists of 198 components, 14 of which are movable. According to the manufacturer, the hinge can withstand 500,000 folds. Also, the new hinge allows you to fix the display in a half-open state.
Another interesting innovation concerns the back cover. It is made of a new material, which includes ceramic fibre. It is called Dragon Scale Fiber. The company claims that the material is much stronger than ordinary glass.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile chip. In the top-end modification, the smartphone is equipped with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage with a capacity of 1 TB. The 4800 mA*h battery provides almost 1.5 days of work without recharging. Surge G1 and Surge P2 proprietary chips are used for efficient power distribution.
The resolution of the main camera is 50 MP + 10 MP + 10 MP + 12 MP, while the two front cameras are 20 MP and 20 MP. The 10 MP modules are telephoto lenses. One of them has got periscopic optics and has a 5x zoom.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 runs on Android 13 operating system with MIUI 14 firmware. We also note support for wired and wireless charging with 67W and 50W respectively, stereo speakers, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is available in three variants: 12/256GB, 16/512GB and 16/1024GB. The official price in China was $1240, $1375 and $1515 respectively.
