YouTube's initiative to disable videos to users who use ad blockers seems to have gone global. This is reported by The Verge, quoting Christopher Lawton, public relations manager at YouTube.

Here's What We Know

Users have started receiving more and more messages from the platform demanding that YouTube be whitelisted or that the ad blocker be turned off completely. Sometimes the notification is only advisory in nature, and once received, you can continue browsing.

However, more and more often users are faced with complete blocking of videos. YouTube offers another way to solve the problem, in addition to manipulating the ad blocker. It is to subscribe to Premium.

YouTube announced the innovations back in the summer of 2023. At that time, the initiative was positioned as a small global experiment. A few months later, its action was expanded. The administration of the video service states that the use of extensions to block adverts violates the terms of service.
