They waited! lifecell and Vodafone launched a 4G network

On the morning of Friday, March 30, mobile operators lifecell and Vodafone Ukraine connected the first cities to the 4G-network (2600 MHz). The introduction of a new communication standard began with point coverage in places of large concentrations of people.

What about lifecell?

The yellow operator was the first to announce the launch of 4.5G network (another name for LTE Advanced Pro technology) in 24 cities, including most regional centers. The company adds that in the cities of Nikolaev, Chernigov, Zhitomir, Rivne, Cherkassy, Vinnitsa, Severodonetsk and Kramatorsk, the fourth generation connection works only with them. True, it can be just a few zones per city. The lifecell coverage map shows where you can start looking for a 4G. While we are talking about the range of 2600 MHz, which means that the user should be no more than 2 kilometers from the base station.

lifecell gives its subscribers a week of using 4.5G-internet without additional payment (until April 6). The new technology should support both a smartphone and a SIM card, you can check the availability on the official website or by calling to the voice menu number 5433. If the device fits the criteria, but the card does not work with 4G, it can be changed for free in any of the operator's stores to 30 April (after - for 30 hryvnia).

And Vodafone?

Following the lifecell on the launch of 4G announced in Vodafone. The first to connect Kiev, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Odessa, and until the end of the day, the fourth generation network should appear in 28 cities. As reported by our world's best readers, the data transfer speed on a smartphone can be higher than for Wi-Fi. But even if it is not so lightning fast, the main advantage of 4G is the increased capacity of the network. This allows you to reduce the risks of disruptions in the congestion of people and at the same time provide a higher number of subscribers with high-speed Internet.

Ready for 4G customers can check using a single USSD-request * 222 #. Old SIM cards without the support of the required standard can be replaced for free at USIM in any Vodafone store.

We are waiting for the answer to Kivestar!

What's next?

Vodafone also reported that a 4G network in the 1800 MHz band (Band 3) will be launched in the summer. This will be the beginning of mass coverage. First, to work with this standard, operators need to reconfigure their 4G-ready equipment, which was installed during the construction of the 3G network. Secondly, the coverage radius of such a base station will be two to three times greater than in the 2600 MHz band.
