The Ukrainian military hit the positions of the invaders with C13 missiles from modified Mi-8MSB-V helicopters
Mi-8MSB-V helicopters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the positions of the Russian army with the help of missiles C-13.
What is known
Rotary-wing aircraft moved at low altitudes so as not to become a target for enemy air defense, being invisible to radar stations. As a result, it was possible to launch unguided S-13 rockets of 122 mm caliber at enemy positions. To do this, the pilots switched to the pitch-up mode, when the nose of the aircraft lifts up, and the missile strike is delivered along a hinged trajectory.
Note that conventional Mi-8 helicopters are limited to S-5 and S-8 missiles of 57 mm and 80 mm calibers, respectively. The expansion of the arsenal with the help of the S-13 significantly improved the capabilities of the Mi-8MSB-V. The helicopter is equipped with blocks B-13L, each of which is placed five aircraft missiles. The flight range is from 4.5 km to 10 km, depending on the flight mode.
