The FBI is trying to find out how the chips of American companies got into Russian equipment and military equipment, which was found on the territory of Ukraine.
What is known
In parallel with the FBI, the United States Department of Commerce is also conducting its own investigation. The authorities want to establish how American chips got to the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, despite sanctions restricting exports. At the same time, a representative of the ministry notes that the fact that electronics of a particular company were found in Russian technology does not mean that an investigation has begun against it.
The Washington Post writes that American chips in the technology used in the war against Ukraine were discovered by researchers from different countries. According to Conflict Armament Research, experts identified parts made after 2020, along with electronics that were released before the United States tightened export controls on Russia (in 2014).
Employees Conflict Armament Research at the end of spring we went to Ukraine. They found in Russian technology the means of communication with the components of 70 companies from the European Union and the United States.
