Slovakia is ready to send Soviet MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, but only on one condition. This will require the help of Poland and the Czech Republic.

What is known

The government may approve the transfer of the MiG-29 to Ukraine, but only if Poland and the Czech Republic take control of the airspace of Slovakia itself. At the same time, there is no information yet either about the timing of the possible dispatch of fighter jets to Ukraine, or about the means by which Poland and the Czech Republic should cover the skies of Slovakia.

Note that such a scheme is not new in relations between Kyiv and Bratislava. In the spring, our country received anti-aircraft missile systems from its western neighbor C-300, while four complexes were placed on the territory of Slovakia Patriot.

The MiG-29 is a fourth-generation light front-line fighter. The aircraft was created in the 70s of the last century, and began to use it in the summer of 1983. The main armament is air-to-air missiles, which are mounted on six pylons.

The fighter can drop aerial bombs of 250 and 500 kg caliber. Also, the MiG-29 bomber armament includes mines and fragmentation bombs. The cost of one aircraft is more than $20 million
