Not only air defense IRIS-T: Ukraine plans to buy 100 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns from Germany
Ukraine plans to acquire not only air defense systems from Germany IRIS-T, but also Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts.
What is known
This was also reported Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk in an interview with Ukrinform. We are talking about 100 self-propelled guns. Ukraine has already received a corresponding offer from German industry. Now it remains to wait for permission from the government.
Recall the other day, Germany sent us 7 pieces of such self-propelled guns as military assistance. For those who are not in the know, this is a 155mm self-propelled gun-howitzer developed by the German concern Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. She was adopted by the Bundeswehr in the fall of 1998. It uses a 52 caliber (8 m) barrel, an automatic loading system with 60 rounds of ammunition, 228 modular propellant charges and a modern ground navigation system. The firing range of the Panzerhaubitze 2000 is 30-50 km (depending on the projectile).
