German soldiers wanted to blow up the Crimean bridge, but were arrested
If you are tired of stories about good Russians, here is a story about good Germans.
What is known
Two members of the Bundeswehr decided in the spring of 2022 to help Ukraine and destroy the Crimean bridge. They committed several thefts at military facilities in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, but unfortunately, they did not succeed in realizing their plans.
Our heroes were part of a group of 12 men. Four were in the service of the Bundeswehr. The servicemen discussed the bombing of the Crimean bridge in phone conversations, unaware that they were being wiretapped by the intelligence services.
Police in Kiel were able to get on the trail of the perpetrators while investigating the thefts. They were planning to travel to Ukraine in late spring. On the night of May 22, the soldiers tried to break into the premises of the engineer and diving company at the naval base in Eckernförder. At that point, however, law enforcement authorities were able to apprehend them.
During a search of the homes of both arrested soldiers, ammunition, explosives and weapons were found. The prosecutor's office is currently investigating and accusing the soldiers of theft.
