Poland will receive armored vehicles with Brimstone missiles to destroy tanks to replace the Soviet BRDM-2
Poland plans to discard Soviet BRDM-2s with Malyutka anti-tank missiles and order new combat vehicles instead.
What is known
The country's Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak (Mariusz Błaszczak) announced this. The Defense Department signed a contract with the company PGZ-OTTOKAR. The agreement between the Arms Procurement Agency of the Polish Ministry of Defense and the consortium involves the production and delivery of tank fighters under the program Ottokar-Brzoza.
Details of the new armored vehicle are not disclosed, but it is known that it will be based on the Multitasking Tactical Vehicle 4x4. It is produced by Huta Stalowa Wola SA together with Tatra. The armored vehicle will be equipped with Brimstone guided missiles, which will be supplied by the British MBDA company.
The cost of the contract and production volumes are kept secret by the Ministry of Defense. It is known that Poland also wants reconnaissance and command vehicles. The first vehicles under the program Ottokar-Brzoza army will receive next year.
