SBU liquidated a cryptocurrency mining center that was stealing hundreds of thousands of hryvnias worth of electricity every month
Security Service of Ukraine was able to liquidate an underground cryptocurrency farm in Kharkiv region.
What is known
The SBU said that the farm was stealing electricity on an industrial scale every month, causing hundreds of thousands of hryvnias of damage to the state. Investigators found that the underground mining center was organized by two residents of the Kharkiv region.
They rented a warehouse near Kharkiv and placed in it the equipment for mining cryptocurrency. The perpetrators illegally connected to the power grid and used overtime amounts of unaccounted for electricity.
During the search law enforcement found computer equipment and equipment for mining digital currency. Now the pre-trial investigation continues.
