F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter successfully tested an upgraded AARGM-ER anti-radar missile
Northrop Grumman successfully tested the AGM-88G (AARGM-ER) missile at a sea range off the California coast.
What is known
The United States Navy fighter jet F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was used for the test. The missile can also be installed on other aircraft. In particular, on the fifth generation fighter F-35 and on EA-18G Growler.
The missile is used to destroy enemy air defense elements. With the help of the new aircraft system can hit air defense / missile defense systems, anti-satellite systems and radar stations (land and ship).
Work on AGM-88G (AARGM-ER) began in 2016. The current test was the third for the rocket. The first launch was in July 2021 from the same deck fighter-bomber F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
