Horizon Aircraft will test the Cavorite X5 unmanned air cab with transformer wings

Canadian company Horizon Aircraft will launch a series of tests of the Cavorite X5 aerotaxi, one of the features of which are transformer wings.

What is known

Cavorite X5 is an electric aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL). A 1-to-2 scale test prototype will take part in the tests. The current version of the air cab is designed to analyze the engineering design, propulsion systems and software in horizontal unmanned flight mode. The prototype is 4.6 m long and has a 6.7 m wingspan. The air cab weighs almost 230 kg.

The commercial version of the Cavorite X5 will be able to accelerate up to 450 km/h and will have a range of 500 km. Brandon Robinson, founder of startup Horizon Aircraft, says that the new air cab will be able to stay in the air longer than competitors.

No date of appearance of the commercial version of the air cab has not been specified yet. However, the Canadian company is involved in a U.S. Air Force competition to develop vehicles for the U.S. military. It is possible that Cavorite X5 will be used for military purposes.
