China launched a DF-17 hypersonic missile 120 km from Taiwan

China continues its "military exercises" amid a trip to Asia by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a possible visit to Taiwan.
What is known
During the People's Liberation Army "exercise," the Chinese launched the Donfeng-17 (DF-17) hypersonic missile. The launch took place on July 31 local time, one day before the 95th anniversary of the formation of the People's Liberation Army, 120 km from Taiwan.
China's DF-17 missile system uses a DF-ZF hypersonic ballistic missile. It has a flight speed of Mach 10 (over 12,000 km/h). The missile system is capable of engaging targets up to 2,500 km away, including nuclear warheads.
