NASA will send Apple iPad to the Moon to test Alexa voice assistant
NASA will launch the Artemis 1 mission on August 29, which will send a huge Space Launch System rocket to the moon. It will put into orbit not only the spacecraft.
What we know
As part of the Artemis 1 mission, the space agency plans to send the Orion spacecraft on an unmanned flight around Earth's natural satellite. After circling the Moon it will have to return back.
Together with the spacecraft, the Apple iPad tablet computer will go into space. As part of the Callisto experiment, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration intends to test the operation of consumer technology in space.
NASA wants to test how useful Alexa and WebEx virtual assistants will be, and find out how they can improve the work and lives of astronauts. That's why the iPad is installed on the central control panel of the Orion spacecraft. In addition to testing voice assistants, the tablet will be used to test the Cisco software needed to get content from the Mission Control Center.
