On the morning of August 19 we wrote that the U.S. is preparing a $775 million military aid package for Ukraine, which will include ScanEagle drones.

What we know

The ScanEagle is a reconnaissance grade unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Insitu and Boeing about 20 years ago. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive 15 drones, each of which is valued at several million dollars.

The UAV has a range of 100 km and can stay in the air for more than 20 hours. The maximum flight speed of the drone is 139 km/h. The drone weighs 18 kg and can carry a payload of up to 6 kg. The ScanEagle is launched using a catapult.

Ukraine is one of the small circle of ScanEagle operators. In addition to the U.S., drones are also used by the Armed Forces of Great Britain, Malaysia, Czech Republic, Poland and Iraq.
