On August 21, 2022, the long-awaited House of the Dragon series made it the biggest premiere in HBO history.

The debut episode was released on the HBO Maxstreaming service. The audience for the first episode in the United States was 9.9 million people. In addition, the series set records in Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

For comparison, the first episode of the debut season of Game of Thrones attracted 4.2 million viewers. However, the last episode was watched by almost 18 million people.
