Taiwan's Defense Ministry has confirmed that a Chinese drone approached one of the military posts in the Jinmen archipelago. The drone is believed to belong to the People's Liberation Army of China.

The incident occurred on August 16 near the island of Erdan. Representatives of the defense ministry of Taiwan said that the soldiers have carried out all the regulatory procedures. It is also noted that the drone was not military, but civilian.

The Defense Ministry stressed that the soldiers did not use missiles because the drone did not intrude into the island's airspace. According to department officials, the purpose of the provocation by China was to test the Taiwanese military's reaction to the appearance of the UAV. China also wanted photos and videos of the military to create a distorted image of Taiwan's army.
