Poland wants to buy South Korea's K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers
The Polish authorities have begun negotiations on the purchase of South Korean-made K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers.
Here's What We Know
The interest in the K239 Chunmoo was triggered by the fact that Polish authorities are not confident that the United States can meet the demand for 500 M142 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers in full scale.
The K239 Chunmoo has been in service with the South Korean military for seven years. The South Korean company Hanwha Defense is the developer of the multiple launch rocket system. The MLRS can use different types of ammunition: 130mm, 227mm (HIMARS compatible) and 239mm.
The K239 Chunmoo is equipped with two containers for 6 to 20 rockets, depending on the caliber. It is also currently working on a tactical ballistic missile of 400 mm or 600 mm caliber with a launch range of up to 300 km.
