Slovenia buys Spike LR2 anti-tank missile systems for 6,670,000 euros

The Armed Forces of Slovenia have decided to purchase Spike LR2 anti-tank missile systems.

This was reported by the publication Shephard Media. The contract was signed with the company EuroSpike, which is a joint venture between Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, Diehl and Rheinmetall. We are talking about 50 APCs worth 6,670,000 euros.

Flashback

The Spike is an Israeli multi-purpose anti-tank missile system. It was developed by Rafael and produced under license in Europe. Development of the system started in the late 1970s and it entered service in 1982. The Spike LR2 is a modified version for longer range, up to 5500 m. It is capable of penetrating armor of 850-900 mm. Spike LR2 can be mounted on armored vehicles and helicopters.
