The Pentagon revealed the experimental Harpoon missile platforms used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to destroy Russian warships
In the spring of 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received Harpoon anti-ship missiles adapted for coastal defense.
Here's What We Know
Bill LaPlante, Deputy Secretary of Defense of the United States, said that the Harpoon were borrowed from one of the US allies. The launchers were mounted on a vehicle chassis. Another truck was used as a power source. The two vehicles were connected with each other by wires.
Tests of the modified system took place in the United States. After successful tests, the missiles along with the launchers were sent to Ukraine. Soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces began training with the new weapon in late spring.
According to Lapland, in mid-June the Ukrainians deployed Harpoon missiles, which arrived from Denmark. A few days after that, the ship "Rescuer Vasiliy Bekh" was sunk. A week later, two more ships of the Russian Navy were destroyed.
