F-15K and KF-16 fighters, Apache and Cobra attack helicopters, KA-1 attack aircraft chased a flock of birds in South Korea, mistaking them for DPRK drones

At 5:00 a.m. (EET) on December 27, the Republic of Korea put two dozen military helicopters and planes into the air. The military believed that North Korean drones had invaded the country again, as they had on December 26.

Here's What We Know

To begin with, we note that on the morning of December 26, several North Korean drones invaded South Korean territory. Fighter and attack aircraft were airborne, one of which crashed during takeoff.

This time there were no accidents, but the alert turned out to be false. The unidentified objects on the military radar were simple birds, not drones of our neighbor to the north.

Two dozen planes tracked their movements for three hours. The birds were chased by F-15K and KF-16 fighters, KA-1 attack aircraft as well as Apache and Cobra attack helicopters.
