Microsoft Corporation has officially confirmed the media information about the impending staff reduction.
Here's What We Know
Theofficial website of the company published a statement by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who confirmed that 10,000 employees will soon be out of work.
The head of the corporation admitted that in these difficult times there is no other way but to optimize costs, including by laying off workers.
He voiced words of support to those who will be among the dismissed workers and promised all-round support: severance pay, payment for six months of medical care, assistance in finding new jobs and advance notice of dismissal.
Separately, Satya Nadella said what steps Microsoft will take to emerge from the economic crisis with minimal losses:
- Cost optimization. Firing employees is one component of it, as well as densifying offices and eliminating expensive office space.
- Investing in areas strategically important to Microsoft's future that the company considers a long-term priority. As well as the abandonment of those areas that are potentially irrelevant.
- The company is adopting a policy of full transparency with regard to its employees.
