Ukraine receives latest Skynex anti-aircraft system to destroy drones and cruise missiles up to 4km away
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have received Skynex air defence systems. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who visited the Italian defence company Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A.

The prime minister recalled that Skynex is one of the developments of Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A. The official also added that batteries of anti-aircraft guns have already been put on combat duty in Ukraine.
The prime minister did not specify how many anti-aircraft systems Ukraine received, but earlier it was reported that Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A. would hand over two systems. They were ordered by the German government. The cost of the contract was €200m.
Skynex is a new air defence system. The anti-aircraft system was introduced in 2021. It is designed to provide protection against cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The anti-aircraft system is equipped with a 35mm Oerlikon Mk3 cannon. It has an effective range of 4 km. In addition to the cannon, the Skynex is equipped with a radar that can autonomously track air threats.
