The vehicle is designed specifically to operate in the Arctic, jungle and desert. It has a Cummins 5.9-litre diesel engine, a payload of up to 5 tonnes and the ability to add various modular systems. The Fuchs 1 is a German wheeled amphibious armoured personnel carrier. It was adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1979 and together with the American M113 is the main transportation vehicle for infantry on the battlefield. Several modifications for different purposes were created on its basis. Since 2009 the Bundeswehr has been replacing them with the GTK Boxer and the RS PARA RASIT with the RASIT radar.
