Apple's Studio Display rival has hit the market - Samsung has started selling the $1300 ViewFinity S9 5K monitor
At CES 2023 in early January this year, Samsung unveiled a competitor to Apple's Studio Display. The monitor is called the Samsung ViewFinity S9, and nearly six months after it was announced, it has gone on sale.
Here's What We Know
The monitor features a 27" display with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels. According to the manufacturer, the panel displays 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The display has a matte finish that reduces light reflection and glare.
The Samsung ViewFinity S9 is equipped with a 4K SlimFit camera. As for interfaces, the monitor has Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, DisplayPort and HDMI. The USB-C connector allows charging laptops. The power output is 96W.
The Samsung ViewFinity S9 runs the Tizen TV OS. The monitor costs $1300, but for now it is only available in South Korea. By comparison, the Apple Studio Display in the U.S. costs from $1599.
