Responding to questions from users on Twitter, HMD Global Product Director Juho Sarvikas said that the state budget of Nokia 2 will skip the update of Android 8.0 Oreo and get the latest version of the platform under the number 8.1. And that's why.

According to company representatives, the release of Android 8.1 Oreo includes some optimizations from Android Go , a "lightweight" version of the operating system for low-cost devices. Nokia 2 with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory - the device is just from this series. Due to more efficient memory management and other improvements, the smartphone (theoretically) should work faster.

Upcoming updates do not mean switching to Android Go. From rumors it is known that the first smartphone of the Finnish brand in this program will be even more affordable Nokia 1. The release of the gadget is expected in March next year

When to expect?

Sarvikas did not specify the timing of the release of a new firmware for Nokia 2, but in the coming weeks, HMD plans to update only Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Users of Nokia 3 for certain reasons will have to wait a little.
