Usually, high-profile projects to create super-accessible smartphones boil down to begging money from the government and end in nothing, but now Google has joined the game. Together with Indian manufacturers, the company plans to lower the price bracket for state employees. This month, the Micromax brand will present a model costing only 2,000 rupees - about $ 31 at the current rate, twice cheaper than the 3G version of the new Nokia 3310.

Maximum available

On the characteristics of the new Micromax nothing is reported, it is known only that these devices will work on a special version of Android Oreo (Go edition) . It is optimized for devices with 1 GB or less of RAM. With "lightweight" standard applications (including Google services), the system runs faster, and the user has up to twice as much memory on the device.

According to the Indian edition Factor Daily, following Micromax similar gadgets will release Intex, Lava, Karbonn and other local manufacturers. It is not yet known whether they will be sold on the international market (and if so, at what price). On Chinese online sites, you can buy a 4-inch model Ipro Wave 4.0 on the old Android 4.4 KitKat for $ 36. That's only in these devices are often used substandard components, and they work "as lucky."

What do venerable competitors have?

As expected, the upcoming smartphones Nokia and Huawei with Android Go on board will cost several times more expensive ($ 90-100), although there and the characteristics should be more interesting.
