A year ago, Dell introduced the XPS 13 Ultrabook with a swivel screen, and at CES 2018, the announcement of a 15-inch flip-flop series - Dell XPS 15 "2-in-1."

How is it interesting?

The display with thin frames on three sides is a chip of the lineup notebooks, and the novelty was no exception. Dell XPS 15 "2-in-1" can be equipped with a 15.6-inch Full HD-panel (1920x1080 pixels, 100% coverage of sRGB) or 4K-display (3200x1800 pixels, 100% coverage of Adobe RGB). This is one of the first models based on Intel processors with powerful graphics AMD (Kaby Lake G). There will be configurations available with Core i5-8305G and Core i7-8705G, both chips with Radeon Vega M GL accelerator (4 GB of HBM2 video memory, performance at GeForce GTX 1050 level). Due to thermal insulation, the case will not become very hot under load.

In the thin keyboard of the transformer, instead of switches and membranes, magnets are used. The webcam below the display supports the Windows Hello function. The Dell XPS 15 "2-in-1" is a millimeter thinner than the conventional model, there are only four symmetric USB Type-C and mini-jacks from the connectors, although the dimensions allow adding full-size USB ports. Even more strange is the microSD slot - photographers will have to carry an adapter for SD cards. The claimed battery life is 12 hours or 9 hours for the model with 4K. Separately, the Active Pen stylus is sold with tilt tracking and 4096 levels of depression recognition. It is magnetized to the body, there is no special groove inside.

And how much is he worth?

Starting price Dell XPS 15 "2-in-1" - $ 1300, the stylus will cost an additional $ 100. Sales of a multi-mode laptop will begin this spring. A direct competitor of the model is the new HP Specter x360 15 (in top configurations).

At the exhibition, the company also showed an updated Dell XPS 13 .
