The first press photos of the Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9 + and everything that is known about the flagships

Presentation of a new generation of Samsung flagships will take place only in a month, but the leak searcher Evan Blass (also @evleaks) has already shown official images of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + smartphones.

The insider confirms that outwardly smartphones have not changed much compared to the Galaxy S8 / S8 +. Visually, the side frames seem slightly larger than those of the current generation, but the "chin" even decreased. Smartphones are built on the top processor Exynos 9810 developed by Samsung, although in the US and China will be sold models on the Snapdragon 845. The more compact Galaxy S9 received 5.8-inch display Super AMOLED, 4 GB of operating and 64 GB of internal memory. The 6.2-inch version of the Plus-version will be more interesting: 6 GB of RAM and a flash drive for 128 GB.

The cameras on the back of smartphones are also different. Only at Galaxy S9 + it will be double. However, the main module here is also not quite unusual. First, 12-megapixel sensors of the new generation support video recording at a speed of 480 frames per second. In addition, Samsung uses a system with variable aperture f / 1.5 and f / 2.4. We have already seen it in the clamshell for the Chinese market Samsung W2018 , and here's how it looks like switching modes:

In the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, an auxiliary 12-megapixel camera received a fixed aperture. The layout of the module is vertical, just below it is the fingerprint scanner (built into the display while there is only in Vivo ). The front-facing cameras for both smartphones are 8 megapixel. About the recognition of faces nothing is reported - it seems, will be an old-good scanner of the iris.

As expected, the glass case with a metal frame will be protected from dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard. At the bottom there are stereo speakers (in Galaxy S8 only one). The capacity of the batteries is not specified, but modern flagships operate without recharging an average of one light day.

When is the release?

After the presentation on February 25 at the exhibition MWC 2018 smartphones almost immediately appear in the pre-order. The start of sales is scheduled for March 16, this date can be seen in the images above. Prices will be announced during the announcement. Probably, Samsung has decided to release a simpler Galaxy S9 to save the price tag at the level of $ 750 - so much at the start cost the Galaxy S8.
