Dell does not really believe in ARM computers on Windows 10

Last year, Microsoft partners announced the first computers on the mobile processor Snapdragon 835 with a full-fledged Windows 10. "Always connected to the network" devices can work on one charge for 20 hours or more, but these arguments did not convince Dell. The company is skeptical about the new segment.

They are taught by bitter experience

One of the reasons why Dell did not follow the example of Asus, HP and Lenovo is all previous failures of Microsoft in the field of ARM-devices. Representatives of the company remembered both the inglorious end of Windows RT, and the mobile Windows Phone, which is living out its last days. The second point - on systems with Snapdragon 835 for running classic applications, the x86 emulator is used, which can affect the speed and time of operation.

Qualcomm claims that there will be no problems with autonomy, but in benchmarks, new devices on Snapdragon 835 are sometimes inferior to systems with Intel Core m3 (this is an estimate of the efficiency of emulation, not the capabilities of the processor itself). In general, the work of Windows 10 on ARM raises questions.

And now what?

Dell decided not to rush and watch the market from the outside. If new devices are in demand, the manufacturer will be included in the game. In the meantime, "we are also quite well fed here."

At CES 2018 in January, Dell introduced the XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop transformer, capable of running up to 15 hours without recharging - also a good result.
