Judging by user complaints on forums and social media, the watchOS 10.1 update has caused serious problems on the Apple Watch smartwatch.

Details

Many users have experienced rapid discharge of the watch. For example, one user's Apple Watch Series 9 ran out of battery 100 per cent in just 3 hours. And the Apple Watch Series 7 lost 25% of its charge in just 30 minutes.

In addition, many Apple Watches have started to overheat, making them unable to charge properly. While charging, users see this alert: ""Charging was on hold due to Apple Watch temperature"". As a result, the battery is actually draining while it is on the charger.

This problem seems to be quite common, but it doesn't affect all Apple Watch users. Nevertheless, the charging problem occurs on different models of watches. This includes older devices such as the Apple Watch Series 4, as well as the latest Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Some users say that the problem was present in the beta version of watchOS 10.1 and Apple has not addressed it.

Apple recently released the first beta version of watchOS 10.2 to developers. But it is not yet known whether the new update will fix the previous bugs. Apple itself has not yet responded to user complaints.
