Apple released watchOS 10.1 with Double Tap and NameDrop functionality

In addition to iOS 17.1, Apple also announced a new version of the software for Apple Watch owners.

Here's What's New About It

The firmware has been released with the name watchOS 10.1 and weighs over 400MB. The update contains a number of bug fixes, improved security, and a few new features: NameDrop and Double Tap. The former allows users to quickly exchange contacts between the smart watch and iPhone. To do this, you need to bring the gadgets to each other.

As for Double Tap, it is one of the main innovations of watchOS 10. The function allows you to perform some actions on the watch with a double tap gesture of the index finger and thumb. For example, switch off the alarm clock, receive or drop calls, take photos from the iPhone camera, etc. Unfortunately, the new features only work on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

When We Can Expect It

The system update has already started rolling out to smartwatches around the world in waves.
