Anyone know the best wireless hdmi for gaming that won't ruin competitive play??

Gaming setup situation is getting desperate and need advice from people who've actually solved this problem. My gaming PC is stuck in the bedroom because that's where all the good ethernet ports are, but I want to game on the big 65" OLED in the living room for single player stuff and couch co-op sessions.

Tried running a 25-foot HDMI cable through the house but my roommate threatened to murder me after tripping over it for the third time. Also tried Steam Link but the compression artifacts make everything look like garbage, especially fast-paced games where visual clarity matters.

The main issue is I play a mix of everything - competitive FPS where even 20ms of extra latency ruins my aim, story-driven RPGs where I just want to chill on the couch, and local multiplayer games when friends come over. Distance between PC and TV is roughly 30 feet with two walls in between.

Every wireless HDMI solution I've researched online has mixed reviews about gaming performance. Some claim "zero latency" which sounds like marketing BS, others admit to 50+ ms delays which would make Valorant unplayable. Need real experiences from actual gamers, not tech reviewers testing with static images.

My dad bought some $800 wireless hdmi thing from costco thinking it would solve his presentation problems at work. Brought it home for me to test and honestly its pretty solid for most stuff but rocket league still feels weird

Bro just embrace the cable chaos. My gf complains about wires everywhere but at least my kd ratio stays consistent. Wireless is for people who prioritize aesthetics over performance

Ethernet powerline adapters work way better than wireless hdmi for gaming imo. Run ethernet through electrical outlets then short hdmi at tv end. More reliable connection

Tried this exact setup last month. Kept getting random blackouts during boss fights that made me rage quit multiple games. Went back to dragging my entire pc to living room when needed

College dorm room taught me cable management skills. Command strips and adhesive cable runners along walls look way cleaner than random wires everywhere. Landlord never knew cables existed

Finally bit the bullet and got the Aries Prime HDMI Transmitter after months of research paralysis. Works surprisingly well for single player games but competitive multiplayer still feels slightly off compared to direct connection

The fundamental issue you're dealing with is signal encoding latency where the transmitter must compress video data before wireless transmission, then the receiver decompresses it. This processing adds unavoidable delay that varies based on video complexity and compression algorithms used

Built custom pc in living room instead of dealing with wireless nonsense. Mini itx case fits behind tv and runs everything perfectly. Cost less than good wireless hdmi system too

Weather affects wireless signal quality more than people realize. Rainy days create interference that causes stuttering and dropouts. Learned this during week-long storm when gaming became impossible

Been using the mirabox wireless hdmi in my apartment setup and it handles most games adequately. Not perfect for competitive play but single player RPGs and strategy games work fine with minimal noticeable delay

old crt tv in basement became my competitive gaming setup specifically because wireless lag was driving me insane. 240hz monitor spoiled me for any input delay whatsoever

steam link compression is terrible but have you tried nvidia gamestream or amd link? way better image quality than valve's solution and latency is acceptable for non-competitive gaming

Gamestream got discontinued unfortunately. Nvidia shield still works but they stopped updating the software. Amd link is decent but requires specific hardware compatibility

Youtube reviews are garbage for wireless hdmi testing. All filmed in perfect conditions with sponsored content disclaimers. Real world performance in normal houses is completely different experience than lab testing

influencer reviews especially useless because they get free gear and never mention long term reliability issues that show up after honeymoon period ends

Building layout matters more than advertised range specs. My kitchen island blocks signal perfectly despite being only drywall construction. Weird dead zones exist everywhere

Chromecast gaming works surprisingly well for turn based strategy games. Obviously useless for fps but civilization runs fine with some input delay acceptance
