Samsung thinks over the display scanner of prints in Galaxy Note 9
Recently, KGI Securities analyst Min-Chi Kuo suggested that due to "technical difficulties" Samsung will postpone the implementation of the fingerprint integrated in the screen of the scanner until next year, and Galaxy Note 9 will not receive it. According to Korean publications, in fact the company has not yet decided on the solution, but will make a choice before the end of the month.
What is known?
The display unit of the company has been working on integration of the fingerprint scanner for a long time, but until now these solutions were not good enough for their own flagships. Soon the situation may change. Samsung Display offered Samsung Electronics three or four options for implementing the sensor under the screen, and both sides seriously thought about the introduction of one of them.
This is an atypical situation for Samsung. In previous years, the main characteristics of the flagships were approved about five months before the mass release. Not long ago, the head of mobile business, Dee-Jay Co. said that they no longer try to be the first in everything and focus on things that are important to users. In other words, the manufacturer will spend more time refining the new technology than releasing the "raw" product.
While only Vivo produces smartphones with display scanners. In commercial models, this is a small area on the AMOLED panel, and in the APEX concept this function is performed by the entire bottom half of the screen. Both designs have one thing in common - while they work slower than conventional sensors.
In the case of Samsung, the main obstacle remains the issue of mass production. The company must ensure that the partners can supply the required number of scanners, and when assembling there will be no difficulties.
As expected, the release of Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will begin in July. The flagship presentation is likely to be held at the end of August.
