Sony has registered an adapter to connect the PlayStation VR2 headset to PCs: it's expected to launch before the end of 2024

It's no secret that Sony is disappointed with sales of the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset: users aren't buying it, causing the company to even have to suspend production of the devices.

In February, Sony officially confirmed that by the end of 2024 it will realise the possibility of connecting PS VR2 to PC, probably hoping in this way to increase the popularity of the headset.

It seems that the Japanese developer has started to realise this project.

Here's What We Know

Dataminer Brad Lynch has discovered that Sony filed an application with the South Korean patent office back in March 2024 to register an adapter that would allow the PS VR2 to connect to a PC.

Sony's marketing team didn't have to think long about the name of the device and called it a no-brainer: PlayStation VR2 PC adapter.

It remains to be guessed when Sony will start selling the adapter, but as previously stated, it will be in shops by the end of this year.

The arrival of the adapter could have a significant impact on the popularisation of the PS VR2, as it would then no longer require a PlayStation 5 console to use.
