Native 4K, 120 FPS and a hefty price: Sony has launched two flagship Bravia series projectors

Sony has announced two flagship laser projectors, the Bravia Projector 7 (VPL-XW5100ES) and the Bravia Projector 9 (VPL-XW8100ES).

Here's What We Know

The projectors are aimed at the premium home theatre segment and gamers seeking the ultimate in image quality beyond monitors and TVs.

Bravia Projector 7 specifications:

  • features 0.61″ SXRD panels with native 4K (3840×2160) resolution;
  • 2200 lumens brightness, laser diode light source;
  • HDR10 and HLG support, image processing technologies: XR Dynamic Tone Mapping, XR Deep Black, XR TRILUMINOS Pro, XR Clear Image;
  • the projector outputs 4K resolution at 120 FPS, has two HDMI 2.1 ports, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), input latency is only 12ms.

The Bravia Projector 7 is priced at $7585.

Bravia Projector 9 specifications:

  • increased brightness - 3400 lumens, improved zoom factor - 2.1x;
  • 0.61″ 4K SXRD panel and XR processor, but is complemented by an Advanced Crisp-Focused (ACF) lens with a 70mm aspherical element and floating focus system;
  • supports Live Colour Enhancer technology - vivid colours without oversaturation, which is particularly effective in bright rooms;
  • extended lens shift range: vertically ±85%, horizontally ±36%.

The Bravia Projector 9 is priced at around $19,839.

Both projectors support integration with smart home systems (Control4, Crestron, Savant, AMX), as well as ideal for gaming due to high refresh rate and low latency.
So far the projectors are available only in India, but will soon be released in other regions.

To recall, Sony earlier launched its flagship Bravia 8 II OLED TVs with 55″ and 65″ diagonals.
