Games based on DC comics have a very mixed reputation: the highly praised Batman: Arkham series is neighboured by the failed Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. After the failure of the latter Warner Bros. incurred losses of $200 million, but is not going to give up creating game adaptations.

Here's What We Know

Director and head of DC Studios James Gunn said that divisions of Warner Bros. Games are gradually putting new games in the DC universe into production. So far, most of them are small projects, but in the future gamers will see AAA-class novelties.

Warner Bros. is interested in promoting its franchises in the gaming market and considers this direction as promising as the reboot of its film universe.

Right now a lot of different parts are set in motion in parallel. So far we're getting some new DC games ready to launch on a relatively small scale. But there are also conversations, even early plans forming, for larger projects. One of them I personally find most interesting, but it's too early to talk about it yet. Inside Warner Bros. Games has recently undergone some reshuffles, so we are also gradually getting to know our new colleagues.

As a reminder, the next game based on the DC universe will be the recently announced LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which will retell the main plots of the franchise in a lighthearted way.
