There were multiple reports that the launch of the ultra-thin iPhone Air did not meet even Apple's most modest expectations, although in some markets, such as China, the new product is selling well.

The authoritative Japanese publication Nikkei published material confirming the failure of the iPhone Air and the success of other models in the 2025 lineup.

What is known

According to industry sources, Apple is drastically reducing the production of the iPhone Air but increasing the production of other models in the series. This decision is due to low sales of the ultra-thin model and tremendous demand for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and Pro Max.

The rate of production decline for the iPhone Air has been reduced to almost zero, with component orders in October amounting to only 10% of September figures. Meanwhile, Apple has increased production of the basic iPhone 17 by 5 million units.
