Resident Evil Veronica remake may slip to autumn 2027 as Capcom expands its scope
Resident Evil Veronica is likely coming later than most fans assumed. Capcom announced the remake at Summer Game Fest in June 2026 with only a vague "2027" window — and now a credible industry insider claims the internal target has shifted to autumn of that year, pushing the game well past the spring release many analysts expected.
The leak
Horror specialist Dusk Golem — who has a documented track record of accurate Resident Evil information — posted on X/Twitter that three separate internal sources point to an autumn 2027 deadline. The reason, per Dusk Golem: Capcom widened the original concept and made the horror more ambitious than initially scoped. He also flagged the remake's absence from Tokyo Game Show 2026 as a tell — Capcom rarely skips a chance to promote major RE titles at one of the industry's biggest annual events.
(2/3) it directly yet myself, so I guess take with some grain of salt if you trust in me trying to share these things to the best of my ability, but I'm coming to believe it's true.

It also vaguely explains to me why it might've skipped TGS, when no other mainline Resident Evil
Capcom has not responded to the claim, and the autumn window remains unconfirmed. No other analyst or outlet has independently corroborated the timeline shift.
What to expect
Veronica is confirmed for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The original — a 2000 survival-horror title following Claire Redfield's capture on Rockfort Island — is widely regarded as one of the most atmospheric entries in the franchise's classic era, featuring fixed cameras, scarce ammunition, and a storyline that reintroduced Albert Wesker. Capcom's announcement confirmed the RE Engine and a reimagined story, following the same template as the RE 2, 3, and 4 remakes now heading to Switch 2 this October.
No pricing has been announced for any market. Previous Capcom remakes in the series landed at £49.99–£59.99 / $59.99–$69.99, so Veronica is likely in the same range — but that's proxy math, not a confirmed figure.
The pattern
Scope expansion as a delay driver is common across big-budget horror remakes, and Capcom's own RE remakes have typically benefited from extra development time. If the autumn window holds, Veronica would also sidestep any Switch 2 hardware supply constraints that could affect a Q1 2027 launch. Capcom's revival of dormant franchises suggests the studio is confident enough in its remake pipeline to take its time — whether fans agree is another matter.
