Capcom brings Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes to Switch 2 this October
Capcom is loading up Nintendo Switch 2's holiday calendar with four major titles. The Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes all hit the console digitally on October 16, 2026, per a VideoGamesChronicle report confirming the announcement from the September 9 Nintendo Direct. Physical copies follow on January 29, 2027. If you own a Switch 2 and missed any of these on PS5 or Xbox, this is the straightforward way in.
The ports
Each remake arrives in its complete edition — Resident Evil 2 Deluxe, Resident Evil 3 Deluxe, and Resident Evil 4 Gold — meaning all DLC is bundled in. Pricing is beginning to surface: RE4 is listed at $25 on the Nintendo eShop, though GBP and EUR equivalents haven't been officially confirmed yet.
The bigger upgrade here is offline play. On the original Switch, RE2 and RE3 existed only as cloud-streamed versions — you needed a stable internet connection to run them. The Switch 2 ports are full native builds, which means no stream latency, no connection dependency, and presumably better visual performance than the cloud versions ever delivered.
Monster Hunter Wilds
The other major announcement is Monster Hunter Wilds, the open-world action game that launched on other platforms in early 2025. It arrives on Switch 2 on December 4, 2026, confirmed by Game Informer. Crucially, this version supports local multiplayer — so you can hunt with friends in the same room without an internet connection, a feature that fits the Switch's portable ethos well.
The lineup
The timing is deliberate. October 16 drops the RE trilogy right into the pre-Halloween window, and Monster Hunter Wilds arrives December 4 — squarely in gift-buying season. Both releases position Switch 2 as a serious destination for Capcom's catalog, which previously had a patchwork presence on the original hardware.
Digital pre-orders for the RE remakes are open now on the Nintendo eShop. Physical editions land January 29, 2027, through standard retail channels — though specific retailer listings in the US and UK are still being confirmed.
