Smartphones with 576MP camera may become a reality in 2025
South Korean company Samsung has recently introduced a 200-megapixel sensor, but it does not plan to stop there yet.
What is known?
Samsung posted an interesting graph at the SEMI Europe Summit that shows the evolution of the company's image sensors since 2000. It does not show the 50-megapixel and 200-megapixelsensors, which were unveiled last week.
In 2013, the company unveiled ISOCELL technology, and a year later launched mass production of 16MP sensors with 1µm pixels. In 2019, Samsung announced ISOCELL PLUS technology, and in 2020 and 2021 the manufacturer was the first in the world to master mass production of 108-MP sensors with 0.7-μm and 0.64-μm pixels, respectively.
But the most interesting of all shown in the graph is the 576-megapixel image sensor. It is scheduled for release in 2025. But so far Samsung does not give any information about it.
