Microsoft unveiled Surface Laptop 5 with Intel Alder Lake-U processors for $1000
Another new product from Microsoft at the fall presentation was the Surface Laptop. Microsoft has updated the 13.5" and 15" models.
Here's What We Know
The smaller laptop is equipped with a 13.5" screen with a resolution of 2256 x 1504 dots. The larger version has a panel measuring 15" diagonally with a resolution of 2496 x 1554 dots. Both use PixelSense touchscreen displays with Dolby Vision IQ support and a 3-to-2 aspect ratio.
The Surface Laptop 5 features Intel Core chips of the Alder Lake-U generation. The consumer version is available with Core i7-1255U (13.5" and 15") and Core i5-1235U (13.5" only) processors. For business customers, the company offers Core i5-1245U and Core i7-1265U.
The version with a 15" display can run for 17 hours without recharging, and the smaller model - 1 hour longer. At the same time, the latter offers users not only metal trim, but also alcantara. Both versions feature Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, Surface Connect, Mini-Jack, USB-A (3.1) and USB-C with Thunderbolt 4 support.
Price & When We Can Expect It
Microsoft made no exceptions and will start selling Surface Laptop 5 along with Surface Pro 9 and Surface Studio 2+ on October 25. Surface Laptop 5 13.5" will cost $1,000 and more. Surface Laptop 5 15" will cost from $1300. The new products get 8-32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256-1024GB of SSD.
