Sony and Tencent acquired more than 30% of the shares of FromSoftware, the creators of Elden Ring and Dark Souls
The major gaming corporations continue to monopolize the market by taking over entire companies and buying blocks of their shares.
Just today it became known that the Chinese from NetEase acquired the French studio Quantic Dream, as new information arrives.
Sony has acquired a 14.1% stake in FromSoftware, developer of such popular games as Elden Ring, the Dark Souls series, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
In addition to Sony, Hidetaka Miyazaki bought a stake in the company and the largest Chinese holding company Tencent. He bought 16.3% of FromSoftware.
Total value of shares, which now owns Sony and Tencent, is 36.4 billion yen ($262 million).
The studio's parent company, Kadokawa Corporation, still has a controlling stake in FromSoftware.
