Ubisoft actively boosts performance in its older games on current-generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series by releasing the appropriate updates. Just a few days ago, patches for 60 FPS were released for Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal, and before that, the developer similarly improved the performance of Far Cry New Dawn and Far Cry 4.

Such steps by Ubisoft are positively received by gamers as they require no additional expenses but offer even more enjoyment from beloved games.

It seems that another key Ubisoft franchise will soon receive such updates.

What is known

On the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, renowned journalist and insider Tom Henderson reported that the French company might expand its policy of enhancing its older games on modern consoles, and the next candidate for improvement is Assassin’s Creed. According to him, the first such patch will be for Assassin’s Creed Unity — the 2014 action game set during the French Revolution. Henderson emphasized that 60 FPS on consoles is all fans of the older Assassin’s Creed can hope for, as the company does not plan to release remasters or native versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series (except for the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag).

The game is remembered for its unparalleled detailing of the main character's every move, but the impression of Unity was marred by a significant number of bugs, especially on the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, which at the time were top-tier, and developers had not yet figured out their architecture, but still released the game with a significantly updated engine.

A few years ago, such a patch was already received by Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

If Henderson’s assumptions are confirmed — Assassin’s Creed fans will definitely be pleased, as Unity is indeed a great game that was slightly unlucky at its release.
