Bloomberg: add-ons for World of Warcraft may be released every year. Blizzard reported about the increasing pace of work on addons
World of Warcraft fans are used to the fact that add-ons for the game are released on average every two years. Blizzard representatives have repeatedly announced their intention to speed up the production of add-ons, but it didn't go any further than that.
Perhaps the American studio has finally managed to increase productivity so that it will allow to release add-ons every year.
Here's What We Know
At BlizzCon 2023, World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale and general manager John Hight were interviewed by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier.
They confirmed that new additions will be developed and released faster.
Blizzard has structured its internal infrastructure and workflow so that there are now two teams of experienced game designers working on add-ons: at Blizzard's headquarters in Irvine and in Boston. In addition, a third team has been formed to provide short-term support for WoW and develop regular free updates.
Top managers emphasised that Blizzard is currently planning to release addons for World of Warcraft every year, but if the public finds this format too frequent - the developers can try to release expansions every year and a half.
Recall that at the BlizzCon festival three addons for World of Warcraft were announced, which will make up the Worldsoul Saga cycle. The first addition will be called The War Within and will be released in autumn 2024.
Moreover, according to the developers, they have a plan to support World of Warcraft for another 20 years!
