China wants to expand the use of civilian drones
The Civil Aviation Administration of China plans to expand the use of civilian drones.
What we know
The Chinese agency has developed a corresponding development plan. The administration plans to expand the use of UAVs in cities and between populated areas. The regulator has voiced several goals, which are planned to be achieved in 2025, 2030 and 2035.
To implement the plans, the Civil Aviation Administration must prepare a regulatory framework and increase airspace capacity for drones. By the way, a number of companies from China are already working on more intensive use of UAVs for urban delivery, but face two key problems: an imperfect regulatory framework and heavy reliance on humans.
China plans to become the world's civil aviation power in the future, so the administration must adhere to international rules and standards for UAV use. The published development plan is subject to open discussion until Sept. 5, 2022.
