Turkey has tested an ANKA drone equipped with a 4.5G communications base station. This was announced by Ismail Demir, Head of Defence Industries Directorate.

Here's What We Know

The ANKA drone was equipped with a special capsule into which it was possible to integrate ULAK's 4.5G base station. The tests checked the ability to transmit video, audio and data via a satellite of the Turkish operator Türksat. The drone equipped with the base station was able to successfully establish communications at low and medium altitudes.

Such systems can be used not only by the military. The integration of a base station on an unmanned aerial vehicle would make it possible to communicate with disaster areas. Work on the project will continue. The next stage is to test at higher altitudes.

In conclusion, we would like to add that Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is working on a new ANKA series drone. It is called ANKA 3, built with a flying wing aerodynamic design and will make its first flight by the end of 2023.
