Germany began to train Ukrainian crews to control the MARS II - this is the European analogue of the M270 MLRS with a maximum firing range of 70 km
Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began training multiple rocket launchers MARS II in management in Germany.
What we know
This was announced at a briefing on June 29 by the representative of the German defense department Arno Kolats. He once again confirmed that Germany will supply Ukraine with multiple launch rocket systems. MARS II (while we are talking about three MLRS) and did not forget to mention the imminent transfer of six self-propelled guns Panzerhaubitze 2000. Germany will send all weapons only after preliminary training of military personnel.
Recall that MARS II is nothing more than a European modernization of the American multiple launch rocket system M270. It is equipped with an updated fire control system of the company Airbus Defense and Space, which allows you to use rockets M31, M31Aone, M32 and AT2.
The maximum range is 45-75 km, depending on the ammunition. Note that MARS II can not fire M26, M26A1, and M30 missiles. This is done in order not to violate the Convention on Cluster Munitions.
