Raider X - combat helicopter with Hellfire missiles for the U.S. Army
The company Sikorsky unveiled a prototype of the combat helicopter Raider X as part of the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft project.
What we know
Director of Development of Sikorsky Army Programs and Innovations said, that the helicopter is 90% ready. Meanwhile, the company already has 98% of the components to complete the aircraft. The Raider X is being developed at the request of the U.S. Army.
The main armament is located under the chin of the helicopter. Raider X received a 20mm cannon and rockets Hellfire. Modular launchers can be placed in the fuselage to reduce drag during flight. The current prototype helicopter does not yet have an 8-bladed push-pull propeller at the tail end and the main rotor blades.
Obviously, it will take a little time to deliver the 2% components and complete the 10% construction of the helicopter. Even so, Sikorsky officials have no comment on a timeline for completing Raider X and entering flight testing.
