Ukraine will receive two NASAMS batteries, not just two surface-to-air missile systems
The speaker of the command of the Air Force of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat is pleased with new information regarding anti-aircraft missile systems NASAMS.
What we know
In an interview with the Ukrainian publication NV he said that Ukraine will receive two batteries of anti-aircraft missile systems NASAMS, not just two SAMs. In addition to the launchers, the battery includes vehicles for charging, detecting targets and servicing the systems.
The speaker stressed that air defense system manufacturers have limited capabilities, which complicates the process of transferring anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine NASAMS. The same applies to German SAMs IRIS-T.
Recall that Ukraine will receive NASAMS as part of another $820 million military aid package from the U.S. In addition to air defense systems, it includes four HIMARS MLRSs with additional missiles, counter-battery radars and 155 mm artillery shells.
One NASAMS third-generation battery contains six mobile SAMs on tracked chassis. The exact number of surface-to-air missile systems to be delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot be made public.
